Professional Development Sharing with pre-service English teachers from CUHK

Teaching is always challenging, as no classroom is ever the same. One way to pursue teaching as the profession is by exchanging insights and ideas with other teachers.

In the hope of nourishing the growth of the teaching profession with our experience, the English department held a professional development seminar to share about teaching English in a diverse classroom to a group of 70 pre-service English teachers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong on 24^th September, 2022. Based on our ample years of experience, Mr. Yu Chun Lit, the English Panel Head, Ms. Pen Yee Han, S3 form coordinator and Mr. Chan Chi Wai, S5 form coordinator, shared the challenges they have faced while teaching in classrooms with students of diverse abilities, and strategies for coping these situations in both the classroom level as well as the departmental level.

Even the most experienced teachers will always face new challenges with new students every year. Hopefully, our sharing has led to valuable insight and growth for future teachers.
